Parishioners presented Father Irwin with the keys to the church and tabernacle, the Elijah Cup, the parish records registry and a three legged stool which represents the parish mission of spreading the Good News, sharing in the Holy Eucharist, enriching the community through our talents, treasure and time, and transforming the community by prayer and action.
Our Lady of Guadalupe parishioners receive Father Irwin with a warm welcome and give thanks for the gift of his priesthood, as he brings Christ in the sacraments to each of us and to our families. We pray that Father Irwin will find blessings and fulfillment here at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
Words from Father Irwin
Greetings parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I am looking forward to meeting you all. Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in Montgomery. I attended St. Bede Catholic School for my first eight years and graduated from Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School in 1988. I studied Civil Engineering at Auburn University and graduated in 1993. A few years after college I began formal training for the priesthood at St. Joseph’s Seminary College near Covington, LA. Finally, I was sent to Rome for five years of major seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in June of 2001. I have been a priest for 18 years and have been assigned to parishes in Dothan, Mobile, Andalusia and Troy. My hobbies include hiking, rafting, and camping. At one time I was an avid water-skier up at Lake Martin as well. I am looking forward to my time at OLOG and ask for God's blessings upon all of us. -- Fr. Den Irwin
