Advent, a time of reflection

Advent unlike Lent, has no rules for fasting, but it is meant to be a period of self-reflection.  Jesus is coming, and Advent is a season of making ready for His arrival.  We see Advent as a joyous season, it is also intended to be a period of preparation, much like Lent.  Prayer, scriptural reading, reconciliation, penance and fasting are appropriate throughout this season.

During Advent our constant prayer should be: "Come Lord Jesus!" (Revelations 22:20)
We should "reject ungodliness and worldly desires, and live temperately, justly, and piously in this age as we await our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:12-13.)
